Celebrate the Season by Keeping Christ the Focus

Where did November go?  I can’t believe how quickly the month passed and that we are already on the first day of Advent.  As I’ve been honoring my commitments to our Savor the Season goals, my time online decreased {funny how that happens huh?}.

Today, just wanted to quickly share {to anyone who may still actually read Just For Clicks} some great resources to help keep our hearts focused on the real meaning of this season which is the celebration of our Savior’s birth:

My friend, Jennifer Walker of Smelling Coffee wrote a wonderful book called Keeping Christ As Christmas and has also set up a FaceBook page with daily suggestions for Advent.

Another great option this season is Good Morning Girls Advent Bible Study.  It’s a great study to get into the Word each day of this special season.  They use the SOAP method of Bible Study which I love!

gmg advent studyThis month I’m also reading The Story….  it’s a book my church did over the past year….  and I fell behind!  So with 31 days in December and 31 chapters….  I’m doing a chapter a day throughout the month!

the storyThose are just a few suggestions for this month as we prepare to celebrate the birth of Jesus!  There are LOTS of fun ways to keep our hearts centered…..  One more from our family is a box we wrapped a few years ago with the names (and corresponding bible verses) of God.  It’s a great addition to our morning devotionals as we take turns pulling out a different slip each morning.

What are YOUR family’s favorite ways to keep focused on Jesus this season?

I had to smile as I read your three suggestions for this season of Advent. I too am a fan of Jennifer Walker of Smelling Coffee. I’ve followed her blogs for years now and she’s on my short list of bloggers I’d love to meet one day in person. I too have read her book and would recommend it. :)

I am also participating in the Advent study by the Good Morning Girls. And I just purchased “The Story” in our church’s book shop. We are going to do it church wide starting in January. I thought I would get a jump start on it.

    Blessings and love,
    Debbie
